KC Auto Family Day PMRA event postponed at Cayuga Dragway

Eight-car Pro Modified field ready and will return in rescheduled PMRA race

TerryCAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 29, 2008) – The Southern Ontario weather did not cooperate, and the eliminations for the Fourth Annual KC Auto Family Day presented by Paul Wolf Electric & Lighting Supply Inc., Osram Sylvania and Independent Electrical Distributors have been postponed.

The third event in the 2008 Pro Modified Racing Association presented by Torco Racing Fuels Ontario schedule will be held at a future date.

A record number of 18 Pro Modifieds came to the Cayuga Dragway at Toronto Motorsports Park to do battle, and while Saturday’s qualifying sessions took place, the heavy rains Sunday stalled any opportunity for eliminations.

Mike Stawicki of Medina, New York took top spot in the field in his G-Force Race Cars 1967 Camaro with a 6.166-second, 227.08 mph run down the Cayuga quarter-mile. Second was Terry Brown of Caledonia, Ontario, piloting his 1971 Challenger and posting a 6.225-second, 233.68 mph pass. Next was Mark Nielson of Brantford, Ontario with his 1968 Camaro and a 6.319-second, 231.75 mph run. more>>

Record number of entries for PMRA round three at Cayuga Dragway

StawickiCAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 28, 2008) - The Pro Modified Racing Association hosted a record number of 18 cars for the Fourth Annual KC Auto Family Day presented by Paul Wolf Electric & Lighting Supply Inc., Osram Sylvania and Independent Electrical Distributors Saturday on the Cayuga Dragway at Toronto Motorsports Park, but due to time restraints and moisture late in the evening, the eliminations will take place Sunday, June 29.

The race is the third in the 2008 PMRA schedule presented by Torco Racing Fuels Ontario.

After three rounds of qualifying, Mike Stawicki of Medina, New York, took number one spot in the G-Force Race Cars 1967 Camaro with a 6.166-second, 227.08-mph pass. Terry Brown of Caledonia, Ontario, qualified number two with a 6.225-second, 233.68-mph run in his 1971 Challenger. Cayuga to host full weekend of drag racing

PMRA Pro Modified and OSCA Super Street Outlaws highlight event

VetteCAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 20, 2008) – Cayuga Dragway at Toronto Motorsports Park will be presenting a weekend filled with a variety of top drag racing action as it presents the KC Auto Parts Family Day  presented by Paul Wolf Electric & Lighting Supply Inc., Osram Sylvania and Independent Electrical Distributors June 28 and 29.

“This weekend will be one of our biggest shows this season at Cayuga,” stated Neale Armstrong, Director of Track Operations. “We will be hosting a wide range of drag racing, just about something for everyone.”

Highlighting the racing will be the return of the PMRA Pro Modifieds for the KC Auto Parts Family Day, the fourth annual event for the popular Pro Modified cars, which travel down the quarter mile at speeds up to 230 mph in  six seconds. more>>

“The business is going well,” said Torco Racing Fuels Ontario’s Scott Wildgust, who has instituted a contingent of suppliers throughout Ontario selling the Torco Racing Fuels Ontario line of racing fuels. “We now have a solid nucleus of dealers, and we can supply all requests in a timely manner.”

Record entries expected for PMRA round 3

Pro Modifieds return to Cayuga for popular KC Auto Family Day race

BruceCAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 13, 2008) – A record number of teams is expected for the upcoming Fourth Annual KC Auto Parts Family Day PMRA Challenge presented by Paul Wolf Electric & Lighting Supply Inc., Osram Sylvania and Independent Electrical Distributors at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario Saturday,  June 28.

“This event has proven very popular with our competitors,” said PMRA Director of Operations Bruce Mehlenbacher. “The teams love running at Cayuga, and we’re expecting a high number of them for this race.”
The event will be the third in the six-race PMRA presented by Torco Racing Fuels Ontario 2008 tour.

Last year’s race was won by Toronto’s Sam Andreacchi, who bested a field of 15 others to take his first PMRA win. more>>

Two Pro Mod finalists split PMRA race at NYIRP

.Leicester, New York (June 7, 2008) - The inaugural First Annual PMRA Challenge Presented by Vito Antonicelli Race Cars and New York International Raceway Park got down to the final pair, but due to the evening dew setteling in, the event was halted before the final was completed.

The two finalists were Mike Stawicki of Tonawanda, New York, in the G-Force Race Cars1967 Camaro, and Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, in his B&B Racing 1963 Chevy Corvette.

.Going into the semi-final round, three of the four contestants are previous PMRA event winners. Only the Grainy Brothers Team of North Tonawanda, NY had yet to win a PMRA race.

The Grainy team was debuting its new G-Force 1967 Camaro, and seemed to have the early bugs worked out of the car with some impressive passes down the track. Unfortunately they met up with Stawicki in the semi, who continued to tear up the track, this time with a 4.040-second, 183.18-mph winning pass against Jack Grainy’s 4.405-second, 153.93-mph run. more>>

Boniferro relishing return to NYIRP

NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO (June 6, 2008) - It has been a long time since Joe Boniferro and the Smokin’ Joe’s Racing team ventured to New York International Raceway Park.

This coming weekend at the inaugural First Annual PMRA Challenge Presented by Vito Antonicelli Race Cars, Boniferro will get to run down a track he really enjoys.

“The last time we came here was to test before the start of the season a few years ago,” said Boniferro, who was 2006 PMRA co-champion. “It was early in the year but the track was good then and I am sure it will be great this weekend. There have been some great drag races at NYIRP over the years with all the National events and such like. The PMRA going there is just the start of NYIRP’s climb back to prominence. LEICESTER, NEW YORK  (June 5, 2008)  – There will be past champions, series rookies, and the return of some regular teams when the Pro Modified Racing Association presented by Torco Racing Fuels Ontario heads to Leicester, New York this Saturday for the First Annual PMRA Challenge presented by Vito Antonicelli Race Cars.

Over a dozen of the popular Pro Modifieds will be on hand to do battle for the second round of the 2008 PMRA tour.

This is the first time the teams have raced at this Western New York track. more>>

Holley, New York (June 4, 2008) - Randy Jewell and the JFM Racing team are excited about the upcoming First Annual PMRA Challenge presented by Vito Antonicelli Race Cars event this weekend at their home track, New York International Raceway Park.

“When we were away winning two championships with the NSCA we never got to really race at home in front of our family and friends,” Jewell explained. “Now that we are running the PMRA (Pro Modified Racing Association) we finally get to run at our home track, and it’s only half an hour down the road from the RJ ProFab raceshop.” more>>

PMRA Pro Modified teams looking forward to Leicester stop on Tour

“It’s a great place to race”

LEICESTER, NEW YORK (May 30, 2008)  – Teams in the Pro Modified Racing Association presented by Torco Racing Fuels Ontario are looking forward to competing in the First Annual PMRA Challenge  presented by Vito Antonicelli Race Cars at New York International Raceway Park in Leicester, New York on Saturday June 7.

This is a new venue for the PMRA, and will be the second stop on the 2008 tour.

“We’ve raced there on and off for 35 years or more,” said Joe Caruso of Rochester, New York, crew chief and part owner of the Midlife Crisis 1994 Corvette Pro Modified. “It’s a good track. It must have the largest shutdown area of any track in the area.”

Caruso added he has been able to get some of the best performance at NYIRP. more>>
