Andreacchi, Boland, Guenther, and Spiering ready for PMRA number 13

Four PMRA teams have shot at becoming repeat winners

CAYUGA, ONTARIO (August 16, 2007) – For many, the number 13 is an unlucky one, but either Sam Andreacchi, Bruce Boland, Matt Guenther, or Carl Spiering is hoping to break that myth.

The Pro Modified Racing Association has had a different winner in every one of their 12 events since the series was started in 2005, and of the PMRA teams scheduled to compete in this weekend’s Second Annual Eaton PMRA Challenge Presented by Eaton at Sanair, four teams, including Carl Spiering, have a shot of becoming a second-time winner.

“We’ll be ready for Sanair”, said Spiering recently. “It’s time to get a repeat winner for the series.”

Driving the Eaton Road Warrior Camaro out of Jordan Station, Ontario, Spiering, along with Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, Matt Guenther of Livonia, New York, or Sam Andreacchi of Toronto, Ontario could become the first multiple winner in PMRA history.

Spiering won the first PMRA race at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario in May of 2005. Boland, with the B&B 1953 Corvette, won the 2005 race at Lancaster Raceway Park. Guenther won the Lancaster event this year in the Guenther Racing 1941 Willys, and Andreacchi took the second Cayuga race in 2007 with his 1969 Chevy Nova.

Spiering has not raced in a PMRA event this year, but will be ready to go at the Sanair track, which is just outside of Montreal in St-Pie, Quebec.

“The ERD engine in the Eaton Road Warrior is a stout one, and we’re going to get this hot rod down the track in fine style.”

At last year’s Sanair event, Spiering, and former PMRA champion Joe Lilienthal of Kenmore, New York were to run in the final, but the race was rained out, and the two teams split the honor.

But Spiering, Boland, Guenther, and Andreacchi will have some stiff competition.

Present points leader Ike Maier of Tottenham, Ontario, will be ready to do battle, as well as Scotty Wildgust of Stratford, Ontario, who is third in points behind Maier and Guenther followed by Boland who is next in line. Also scheduled to race on the famous Quebec drag strip are Terry Brown of Caledonia, Ontario, Mike Cusimano of Rochester, New York, Dave Earhart of Strathroy, Ontario, and Mark Mitchell of East Otto, New York.

Each of these drivers is hoping to be the next new PMRA winner and keep the streak alive.
