Final 2007 PMRA race will be an exciting match-up for Series Championship
Over a dozen teams to compete in Grand Bend season ender
CAYUGA, ONTARIO (August 30, 2007) – With four teams ready to take home the 2007 Pro Modified Racing Association Championship, the upcoming race at the Grand Bend Motorplex will be intense for the final event of the season.
And with the entries scheduled for the two-day race, there will be lots of excitement as the teams pair off on the Grand Bend Motorplex quarter-mile track.
Matt Guenther of Livonia, New York, Ike Maier of Tottenham, Ontario, Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, and Scott Wildgust of Stratford, Ontario are the top four in the series, and each has a shot at winning the title. But they will face some stiff competition with over a dozen Pro Modified teams expected to race.
Sam Andreacchi of Toronto, Ontario will be ready with his 1969 Nova, as well as Dave Earhart of Strathroy, Ontario. Both have notched PMRA wins this year. Pro Modified veteran Gary Irving of Toronto, Ontario will be on hand with his 1937 Chevrolet, as well as long-time racer Larry Sinke of Welland, Ontario with his Hammer Racing Nova.
Former PMRA Champ Joe Boniferro of Niagara Falls, Ontario, will be racing with his Smokin’ Joe’s Avenger entry, and former PMRA event winner Mark Nielson of Brantford, Ontario will make his series debut for 2007 with his new 1967 Camaro.
Others who will make the tow to Grand Bend include Terry Brown of Caledonia, Ontario, Rob Laperriere of Oshawa, Ontario and Mark Mitchell of East Otto, New York.
While the racers will be going head-to-head on the track, they will enjoy some bench-racing and camaraderie Friday night before the event, as driver Scott Wildgust and team owners Kirk and Maria Silbermann will hold a corn roast and get-together for the PMRA teams.
The Grand Bend Motorplex event, to be held September 1 and 2, is the fifth and final event in the 2007 PMRA season.
The Teamsters Canada Thunder by the Beach Weekend featuring the Castrol "Night of Nitro" and Second Annual - PMRA Challenge will take place Saturday and Sunday, September 1-2 at the Grand Bend Motorplex in Grand Bend, Ontario.
Qualifying for the PMRA Challenge will begin Saturday, September 1, with sessions at 3:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 9:00 p.m. Eliminations are scheduled to begin Sunday, September 2 at 1:30 p.m.

Now in its third year of operation, The Pro Modified Racing Association continues to enjoy strong fan popularity and for 2007 will present some of the best in Pro Modified drag racing in North America.
The PMRA traveled to several drag strips in 2007, including two dates at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario, Lancaster Raceway Park in New York State, Sanair in Quebec, and a season-closer at the Southwestern Ontario track of the Grand Bend Motorplex.
In 2006, the tour was a great success, and during the past two seasons of the PMRA, each event finished with a different winner. Joe Boniferro and Kasey Janzen tied in points last year and were crowned co-champions over the other Ontario, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, and Pennsylvania teams. The PMRA is pleased to have Wix Filtration Products, Valvoline, a division of Ashland Inc., Uni-Select, and Moen Incorporated as sponsors of the 2007 points series.
