Sam Andreacchi ready to be a factor in 2008 PMRA season

New car body will enhance efforts of Toronto team

SamTORONTO, ONTARIO (January 9, 2008) - For 20-year racing veteran Sam Andreacchi, winning one of the Pro Modified Racing Association’s events in 2007 was the highlight of his season, and he hopes to add some more wins this year.

“The PMRA is a great series,” said Andreacchi, who has raced a Pro Modified for the past six seasons, but joined the PMRA only last year. “And winning one of the races was certainly nice.”

New for this year, will be a carbon fiber body on the Sam Andreacchi /Domenic Calabria-owned entry.

The team that is sponsored by Paul Wolf Electric & Lighting Supply Ltd. has been running a steel 1969 Chevy Nova body, but he said the new body has finally arrived, and getting that on the car will be the main focus of activity before racing begins in 2008.

Andreacchi placed fifth in the PMRA point award series sponsored by Wix Filters, Valvoline Oil, Uni-Select, and Moen Faucets last year, and won the Third Annual KC Auto PMRA Challenge at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario. He took out NY’s Mike Stawicki in the final after eliminating number one qualifier of the meet, Tony Pontieri of Bolton, Ontario in the semis.

The Nova is powered by, an Al Billes-prepared Brad Anderson Hemi with a Kobelco supercharger and Billes fuel system. Andreacchi said he is looking for some good numbers this year with the new car body, which weighs about 300 pounds less.

He said the team plans to leave the rest of the car alone. “We’ve got more than enough power in the car,” he added. “We haven’t tapped its full potential yet.”

Before competing in the PMRA, Andreacchi was a force in his class, at CFSC and OSCA events.

“It’s very important that I thank my family, my wife Franca, my son Vincent, my daughter SamAlessandra, and my sister Gina” said Andreacchi. “We certainly couldn’t do this without their support."

The Andreacchi Motorsports entry is crew chiefed by Murray Kennedy, and crewed by Rick Defrancesco, Vincent, Alessandra and Alyssa Bossio.

The team enjoys the support of several sponsors, including Paul Wolf Electric & Lighting Supply Inc., Kidd Fuels Corp., Sylvania, IED (Independent Electrical Distributors), Thomas & Betts, Legrand Canada Inc., Eaton, Nuteck Mechanical, Manning Electric Co. Ltd., Eurotech Electric Limited, Ember Electric Ltd., Dial Auto Parts, 3M Signs, Ideal Quilting Limited, ARA Electrical Contractors, Halling Electrical & Mechanical , Diagnostic Automotive, Core Insurance, Al Billes and Skull Motorsports.

PMRA tour stops in 2008 include two dates at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario, Lancaster Raceway Park in New York State, Sanair in Quebec and the Southwestern Ontario track of Grand Bend Motorplex.

Negotiations are underway with several US race tracks based in Michigan, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania with the plan of presenting a seven-event PMRA drag racing series this season.
