Crane Cams posts event winner prize at each race

CraneDAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA (May 1, 2008) - The Pro Modified Racing Association is honored to announce the sponsorship support from one of motorsport’s icons.

Crane Cams, one of the largest and most innovative manufacturers of engine camshafts, valve train components, and electrical items, will be supplying contingency sponsorship for the winner at each of the 2008 PMRA events.

“To get Crane involved with the PMRA is very important and gratifying for us,” said PMRA Director of Operations Bruce Mehlenbacher. “It shows that the PMRA has reached a level where major aftermarket firms such as Crane believe in our series.”

Based in Florida since 1953, Crane was founded by hot rodder and machinist Harvey Crane, with an emphasis on quality and reliability.

By 1960 Crane was producing products for a host of drag racing applications. Drag racing legend Pete Robinson won the 1961 NHRA Nationals in a Crane-equipped dragster, and soon the little shop in Florida began expanding.

The company, producing cams and related parts for a wide variety of race and street applications, grew to its present size, with a 160,000 square foot facility at Daytona Beach. Along with building OEM and private label equipment, Crane supplies automotive electronic components, and parts for the motorcycle, marine, and aviation industry.

The recipient of the first Crane Cams - Event Winner Contingency Award will be decided as the PMRA gets under way May 17-18 for the Third Annual Victoria Day Weekend - PMRA Challenge at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario.

The PMRA will compete at several drag strips in 2008, including two dates at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario, May 17 and 18, and June 28, New York International Raceway Park on June 7 and Dunn Tire Raceway Park on July 26 in New York State, Sanair in Quebec on August 16, and a season-closer at the Southwestern Ontario track of the Grand Bend Motorplex on August 30 and 31.
