NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO (June 6, 2008) - It has been a long time since Joe Boniferro and the Smokin’ Joe’s Racing team ventured to New York International Raceway Park.

This coming weekend at the inaugural First Annual PMRA Challenge Presented by Vito Antonicelli Race Cars, Boniferro will get to run down a track he really enjoys.

“The last time we came here was to test before the start of the season a few years ago,” said Boniferro, who was 2006 PMRA co-champion. “It was early in the year but the track was good then and I am sure it will be great this weekend. There have been some great drag races at NYIRP over the years with all the National events and such like. The PMRA going there is just the start of NYIRP’s climb back to prominence. The fans are in for a great show this weekend.”

Crew chief Ryan Boniferro added, “When we came here last time I was just on the edge of being allowed on the starting line because of my age. This weekend will be the first chance for me to see the racing surface properly and formulate our strategy for the race. I am looking forward to the challenge. It will also be the first weekend that we will have Boniferro Speed and Custom on the car. We opened the speed shop over the winter and want to show people we do more for racers than just build competition transmissions.”

Boniferro’s hard working team continues to field the world’s quickest Mopar wedge powered doorslammer. The only other Mopar-bodied, Mopar-powered car in the field has a Hemi powerplant.

“I like to do things differently” said a smiling Boniferro, “It gives the fans something special to cheer for; I just hope they are doing a lot of cheering this weekend.”

Joe Boniferro would like to thank his marketing partners, Joe's Transmission Service, Boniferro Speed and Custom, Al's Radiator Services, Koffel's Place, Pennzoil, HeadsUpRacer.com, Lowdown Hot Rods, Mickey Thompson Tires, NGK Spark Plugs, JE Pistons, Pappa's Pizza and Subs, Manton Pushrods, Scott Jahren Paint, TechPower Developments Inc, Goosen Heating and Air Conditioning, Stradwick's Flooring, TT Fabricating and The Balancing Act.

There will be three qualifying sessions on Saturday, June 7 at 3:00 p.m., 4:15 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. followed by Eliminations for the top eight qualifiers starting at 7:30 p.m.
